Top 5 Holistic Health Tips
These are our top tips to help maximize your immune health. We hope these practical tools help you maintain your health and wellness during these crazy and uncertain times.
1. Fresh Air and Sunshine:
Fresh air increases your oxygen levels and if you add some sunshine for that immune boosting vitamin D even better. These both may minimize virus replication especially during these hectic times. Go visit a garden, park, forest or pond - Richmond Hill, Toronto or your local area has lots to offer. Go discover today.
Be sure to do some deep breathing under trees to get as much oxygen as possible into your system. This is especially important after wearing a mask for a long period of time. Add a little bit of motion or exercise with this fresh air and it’s even better!
2. Whole Foods Diet: Eat lots of whole foods including fruits and vegetables. This is important to get antioxidants into the body. Reduce the refined foods and sugars as these are addictive and often tasty but lack any nutrients. It’s so easy to eat these comforting convenience foods at this time. However, eating whole foods instead will help your immunity and help control pandemic cravings and weight gain. Some immune boosting whole foods include mushrooms, broccoli sprouts, garlic (especially raw or aged garlic), berries, walnuts and green tea.
3. Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate with Water: Drink lots of filtered water. In fact, water is the cheapest form of medicine for a dehydrated body. Your body needs six to eight, 8- ounce glasses of water a day, depending on your body type or environmental conditions. Drinking alcohol, coffee, tea, caffeine-containing beverages and sugary drinks do not count as water - sorry.
4. Supplement where necessary. We have a simple or comprehensive list of recommendations depending on each individual's diet, wellness and lifestyle conditions. Some recommendations include: Vitamin C, Vitamin D, omegas, probiotics, zinc, sulforaphane, Quercetin and other respiratory targeted supplements.
5. Good Oral Hygiene: Good oral hygiene goes beyond just brushing and flossing. See below for some more holistic practices to incorporate in your daily oral hygiene routine.
Oil Pulling - swishing your mouth with coconut oil may help draw out toxins in the mouth. Swish and spit out, do not swallow.
Hydrogen Peroxide - Putting diluted food grade hydrogen peroxide onto your toothbrush may help to sanitize it and whitens teeth at the same time.
Gargling is good to get rid of mucus in the mouth, throat and respiratory tract. Try gargling with warm salt water or green tea for some great results.
BONUS TIP
Do not be afraid. Fear reduces the level of your immunity and it is your own immunity which helps to fight off infections, colds and viruses. Replace fear with faith, decision and action. Some techniques to reduce fear may include prayer, meditation and laughter.
Be well and stay safe everyone.
